Mala Making and Meditation Class with Kayse Pellegrino
Description: Prayer beads are found in many cultures and used as a pathway or connection to the divine. Mala are prayer beads in a string of 108, typically found in Hindu and Buddhist practices. They are used as a tool for meditating by keeping count or attaching rhythmic movement to breath or a mantra.
Join us in the sacred art of mala making. You will choose your own materials with intention to create a Mala that is personal and sacred to you. There will be a choice of several different types of wooden beads for the main body of the Mala, as well as a selection of gemstone beads, a Guru bead, and tassel or hanging pendant for added personalization. When the Mala are complete, we will join in a guided meditation, blessing the Mala we have made and learn ways to use them to develop a deeper meditation practice.
In this workshop you will learn:
How to create your own beautiful handmade Mala.
Several different methods of meditation with your beads that can be integrated into your daily meditation practice. (Don’t have one? Start now! There is no better time).
The history of Mala and prayer beads, including the spiritual and cultural significance of 108 beads.
