Welcome to Walk MS - Buffalo NY Chapter - Michelle’s Supporters page!

Michelle L. Clark was diagnosed with MS in 2002, nearly ten years after having optic neuritis in her twenties.  She formed WalkMS team Michelle’s Supporters with family and friends a couple years later.  Although a small team, they fundraise most of the year doing prize raffles & happy hours covering most of Western NY.  The largest event that Michelle organizes is the Annual Volleyball Tournament and Basket Raffle, going into its 13th year (skipping 2020/2021).  To date, the team has raised over $100,000 for WalkMSover the span of 20 years of participating!

Michelle’s background is in business management and accounting, and after leaving the corporate world a few years ago, started her own business.  She is a Board CertifiedReflexologist, Reiki Master/Teacher, Shaman energy practitioner and ordained minister.  Combining holistic wellness and the passion for sharing her experiences with MS have led to many speaking engagements at MS support groups, wellness fairs and to anyone that asks!  Michelle’s goal is to bring a positive outlook and hope to anyone living with a chronic illness.  

Michelle has been called assertive, tenacious, and perhaps stubborn many times, and inspirational.  She earned recognition a few years ago as Inspirational Woman on the Move at the NMSS Champions Luncheon.  Part of her acceptance speech follows:

“I do feel that being diagnosed with MS has added to my ‘never give up’ attitude and perhaps that does make me an inspiring person for others.   Simply changing the way I talk about MS has become an inspiration to some: I no longer give it the power or ownership by saying “I HAVE”  ~  I was merely Diagnosed with MS…

I recently asked a client what she thought made me an inspiration:  She enlightened me by saying “you left the corporate business world to start your own business! That inspires me! I couldn’t do that.”  I thought… that may be brave, but inspirational?  I also considered my leap of faith when I purchased my home, a few years after my diagnosis.  On my own…even when facing such an unpredictable path.  Again… inspirational? Or simply  Brave?

I’m always looking for a quote, saying, or photo to encourage my family, friends and clients, passing them on whenever needed.  Maybe I am inspirational to others, but as I see it, it’s a two-way street:  We are sharing this journey together, helping each other to find that daily inspiration from within.  I’m very blessed to have family and friends that inspire me to rise above and do my best.  

Remember to stay present…  HERE… living in this moment.  Regardless of what life hands to you, gratitude can be found all around you, if you take the time to look!
